Starting with good seeds is super important with anything but, with Cannabis it is highly very important. You want to have strong, proven genetics and high percentage rates of popping.

CropKingSeeds is a great and reliable source for seeds, visit them here if you are interested in buying quality seeds.

There are number of recommendations and steps to increase the chances of your seed germinating.

When you get your seeds the first step is to soak them in a small container of bottled, spring water. The time recommendations vary from 12-24 hours, just be sure to follow what the supplier has instructed you to do, if you do not have instructions, you can soak for at least 12 hours.

After the soak the next step is to place the seeds in between a couple pieces of paper towel, I like to put them on a plate in the paper towel. Wet the paper towels do they are wet but not dripping, too much or too little water can affect the seed.

Be sure to check on the seeds frequently. They do not require light at this stage and it is actually better if the location they are placed is dark. be sure the area is not cold.

Check frequently and add water as needed. Over the next 2-3 days most seeds will pop, but this can take up to a week. When the seed pops a "tail", which is the tap root will appear. Once the tap root appears you are ready for planting.

Plain potting soil is your best bet to start seeds with this will help avoid excessive nutrients from soil, you will need to go nutrient free for the first few weeks.

The depth to plant is fairly shallow, about 1/4- 1/2 inch at most. Keep your soil moist, but do not over water, while you await for the seed to sprout from the soil. Within a few days (as long as you didn't plant too deep) you should see it emerging from the soil with its first set of primary leaves.

Light can now be brought in, at this stage the plant does not require a lot of light like it will when it is in flower. A simple CFL bulb will do.
